Types of Hosting Management Systems

Hosting management panels allow you to easily perform the operations you will perform on the server through an interface.

To basically state the operations you can do on these panels; Database operations, FTP operations, SSL operations, DNS operations and account management.

In this article, we will talk about some of the most preferred hosting management panels.

cPanel

cPanel can only be installed on a Linux server. It has become one of the most preferred panels, thanks to both having an interface for the end user and easy access to areas that appeal to developers.

Thanks to its very simplified interface, you can access all the fields you need from a single window.

The main key features of cPanel are given below:

  • Domain transfer, name and control operations.
  • Creating and managing email, spam blockers and automatic forwarding.
  • Visitor and error logs.
  • Creating and managing a database.
  • Some security features like IP blocker, file protector.
  • Server performance monitoring
  • Creating backups
  • File management and user management.
  • 3rd party software support to enhance existing features.

Plesk

The plesk panel, which is compatible for both linux servers and windows servers, is especially used on windows servers. The reason for this is that there are not many compatible panel options for Windows servers.

Unlike cPanel, not all management options are together, instead they are divided into different categories thanks to the menus created on the left. But it has an interface that can be managed as easily as cPanel.

Apart from this, thanks to the "authorization" feature of plesk panels, it is possible to give different authorizations to panel users.

DirectAdmin

It is compatible with servers with Linux and BSD (unix) architecture. It stands out especially in terms of being cheaper than others in terms of price and convenience.

Unlike other panels, the management options in the user interface are positioned on the top, not on the side.

It has all the features found in cPanel and Plesk panel, but the main reason for preference is its clean interface and simplicity.

All of the above-mentioned panels have their own peculiarities, pros, and cons. It is quite hard to determine which one is the best. This is a matter of choice. However, these web panels have one common feature: they make managing servers and hosting easier and quicker. That’s why they are a good solution for both beginners and developers.
